FC Barcelona 2009 FIFA Clubs World Cup Champions
It was an historic evening in Abu Dhabi as FC Barcelona collected their record sixth trophy of 2009. The FIFA Club World Cup is the clubs first ever and completes and epic 2009 for manager Pep Guardiola. The emotion of the historic win brought Guardiola to tears as he celebrated with his players.
The actual match was gripping as the two teams played evenly through out the entire match. A goal in minute 37 by Estudiantes looked to be the deciding goal and the third time that Barcelona would be unable to collect the FIFA Club World Cup.
Hope was restored in the last minutes of the match as Pedro did his best Andres Iniesta impression and in the 88th minute sent a Gerard Pique header into the back of the next. The last minute goal brought the blaugrana fans to their feet and sent Pep Guardiola charging down the sideline in celebration.
The goal by Pedro sent the match to extra time where it was Lionel Messi's turn to take the spotlight. The first 15 minutes of extra time were uneventful but in the 110th minute Lionel Messi chested a Dani Alves cross past the Estudiantes keeper.
With the goal FC Barcelona makes history! What a club, what a year. Visça Barça!
