Leroi Wilson named PDL Piranhas Head Coach

Virginia Beach, Virginia - The Hampton Roads Piranhas are pleased to announce that Leroi Wilson, the former Hampton Roads Mariners assistant coach, will take over the helm of the PDL Piranhas for the 2010 season, replacing Jon Hall. Hall, the 2007 PDL Coach of the Year, chose to step down from his position, citing the need to spend more time with his growing family.
Piranhas' owner Marcie Laumann has high praise for both coaches. "Coach Hall was a tremendous asset to our organization and he leaves big shoes to fill," she said. "We are excited to have coach Wilson take the reins of the PDL squad this season. His many years of USL coaching experience and deep roots in the Hampton Roads community are huge benefits for our organization."

Wilson, an All-Conference Midfielder/Defender for Virginia Commonwealth University, joined the Mariners immediately after college in 1994. He played for the Mariners from 1994-1997 before joining the team's coaching staff where he served as an assistant coach from 1998-2006. He has also run the Leroi Wilson Soccer Academy for the past seven years and coaches the U17 Arsenal Boys for Chesapeake United Soccer Club. He has also coached for Beach FC and has taken his youth teams to the state finals and semi-finals.

"I am delighted and honored to be the head coach of the PDL Piranhas," said Wilson. "I am looking forward to getting started and taking this team back to the playoffs. Jon Hall did a great job with the team and I am looking to continue his tradition of success."

Wilson, a Financial Representative for MetLife, was born and raised in Queens, New York. He currently resides in Virginia Beach with his wife Ingrid and two sons Mekhi, age 8 and Kamar age 4.
