U-17 USMNT defeats Brazil to win Nike Friendlies

US U-17 MNT MNT completed a outstanding weekend by defeating Brazil 3-1 Sunday evening in Lakewood Ranch Florida to win the Nike Friendlies. The showcase included 3 other teams, european powerhouse France, Samba Kings Brazil and the talented Turkey. After drawing to a quick and powerful France the young Americans displayed a convincing win against Turkey which set up a winner takes all game against Brazil Sunday evening. U-17 USMNT featured many promising players of the future. The two creative players in the midfield are Junior Flores & Rubio Rubin. Both players possessed the ability to keep the ball for the USMNT but also create dangerous opportunities to score. To go along with these weapons are natural goal scores in Wesley Wade & DeAndre Robinson. In three matches Wade the towering striker had two goals and an assist. Defensively the U-17 USMNT was solid but two who stood out to me was the general in central defender Tyler Turner. Turner not only led the yanks defensively but also scored two goals in 3 games to highlight is incredible weekend. Shaquell Moore who plays right back for the yanks was a consistent threat going forward. Showing not only his pace but ability to make key passes to start the young yanks attack. All around a solid and inspiring result for coach Wilmer Cabrera & the entire US Soccer program.

Mexico has shown over the last couple of weeks that it is more than a country of internecine drug cartels. The Mexican economy has been growing at a steady pace and the investment in the nation’s soccer program is reaping dividends.

Mexico defeated the United States convincingly in the final of the CONCACAF tournament. The Central American nation staged the Under 17 World Cup and the Mexican youth team emerged as 2011 Champions. Mexico defeated Uruguay in the final and Germany pinched Brazil 4-3 to win the Bronze medal. Mexico will be a force in world football in the coming years.

The Brazil Triple Tragedy

The United States Women’s World Cup team put up an epic performance in defeating Brazil in penalty kicks. Brazil was leading 2-1 in overtime from a spectacular goal from Martha. The United States Women’s Team down to 10 players, rather unjustly, played with great determination and their leading scorer, Wambach, converted a header in the extra minutes of the 30 minute overtime.

When The Back-up Goalkeeper Scores an Equalizer

The U-17 World Cup is where we see future stars of the game. Yesterday we witnessed Canada's back-up goalkeeper Quillan Roberts from the Toronto FC Academy score a shocker. Usually, one would expect a scorcher into the top corner or possibly as an extra man in the box of a corner. This time it was an epic bounce sent from the other half with 3 minutes left in a 2-1 match with England leading.

Football Rwanda

Plenty of footballers are used to getting up and playing worried about minutes on the field or getting the right amount of touches. These U-17 players are the first generation after the horrific Rwanadan Genocide of the early 90s. They play to write history for this healing nation. They have qualified for the U-17 World Cup this year in a group with Canada, England & Uruguay. This looks like a win-win situation.

United States’ 3-0 victory over Canada in the CONCACAF U17 Championship game

Wilmer Cabrera's USA Under-17 Men's National Team—defeated rivals Canada 3-0 in extra time at the Catherine Hall Stadium in Montego Bay, Jamaica to win the 2011 CONCACAF Under-17 Championship. This is the first CONCACAF Under-17 title for United States. Nathan Smith opened the scoring for the USA in the 92nd minute. Andrew Oliver made it 2-0 for the Yanks in the 100th minute before Alfred Koroma put the game out of reach in the 120th minute of play.
Omar Browne scored Panama's second goal in five games to lead "Los Canaleros" to third place at the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship with a 1-0 victory over Jamaica on Sunday.
